By Althelas
Exceptionally lightweight and I think it has an interesting design for portability. Tool-less assembly took me less than five minutes to put together. Very nice that it comes with a carrying case. This is clearly a product that's meant to be used, enjoyed and then stored away. The legs attach very easily and feel very stout. The legs hold up a ring. The bowl rests on top of the ring. The log grate isn't "built in," instead it sits in the middle of the bowl - which is better. Makes it easier to remove and clean. I can't stress enough how important I think the log grate is. This isn't my first firebowl and having a log grate substantially improves the airflow. The bowl felt shallow, but was able to handle four 4-5" logs without trouble. Mine came with a bonus grill. A nice addition, but there is little clearance between the log grate and the grill, so I believe the grill is optional and probably won't see much use. The firebowl is approximately 6 inches deep.
While I'll be using my Char-Broil firebowl in our backyard, I can see where this would be a great item for camping, RV'ing or even tailgating. Good size for any backyard, but especially a smaller backyard. Takes up less space than an old fashioned bar-b-que grill and much easier to store!
The fun of a firebowl is the occassional backyard fire without a firepit or a scorched circle of grass. As with ANY wood burning firebowl, you cannot set this up on your wood deck. ALL firebowls emit too much heat through the bottom to rest on top of something like a wood deck. Trust me, I learned this from our first firebowl purchase.
Our first firebowl was a big, heavy, hunking mess. Bought at an "end of season" sale, I still paid more than I did for this Char-Broil Portable Firebowl. We enjoyed the novelty of having a firebowl a few times, but most of the year, the old one just laid around the backyard as an odd piece of black "art." It rusted through and I felt as if it had been a poor decision. I know our son got tired of moving it to the right and left each time he mowed.
We living along the line of planting zones 6-7 where the winters our mild and evening temps during the fall are in the upper 40's to lower 50's. For my daughter's 16 birthday party, she wanted me to set-up outdoor theater I did during the summer with a sheet and our projector for movie watching. Concerned about it be too chilly, she asked for a firebowl. After my experiences with the first one, a portable one seems like a great idea. Use it, enjoy it and then store it. I love the idea.
It took me less than five minutes to set the thing up. I did a test fire last night and I was very pleased. I grabbed logs that were a bit long, but they worked. I would suggest 12-16" logs instead where at least two of mine were closer to 20-24". The bowl part felt flimsy when I pulled it out of the package, but that's the trade-off for lightweight. Once it's assembled, it feels very stout.

We used this for the first time the other day. Kids had a blast roasting marshmallows and hot dogs. Would recommend to anyone.
