By M. Walfred
My husband and I previously had a a shallow fire pit from a big boxed store. The kind that runs about $50. When the bottom rotted out after two years, we decided to look for something more substantial. Big box stores and national home improvement stores had a big variety, but they all looked a bit cheezy. Living in coastal Delaware, there are a lot of boutique like patio stores and many of them carry fire pits. We saw this same fire pit at a store in Lewes, Delaware and were impressed with its weight, depth, and cut outs (this one of palm trees, but others are available). The cut outs are screened from the inside, which prevents flying embers. It also allows for better airflow to keep a fire active. Here's a video of the fire bowl: [...]
We however did not like the price of $250 and I decided to check online and was pleased to see Amazon carry this product for a whole lot less- and free shipping too!
The side rails are easy to assemble. It comes with a domed screen lid. It does not come with a log poker or a waterproof cover. Given its weight, you do want to keep a cover on the pit once embers are cold- this is a big pit and two people are needed to move it. The pit does come with a log grate that rests at the bottom.
We are able to put good sized logs in the pit and build up brush and kindling. As a result, the fires last longer. They burn very well, and on chilly nights, heat escapes through the side cutouts which illuminate, flicker and glow in the evening. I highly recommend this fire pit. We have gas fireplaces in our home, and with the price of propane, rarely use them. But we've spent many a night in front of our new fire pit. It provides a lovely focal point for conversations.
DO NOT buy the suggested fire pit cover (2011) Amazon may have changed the suggestion-please check! We originally bought the 44" veranda cover that was paired with this fire BOWL and while it spans the top, it did not cover the entire bowl. This is a fire "bowl" not a fire pit, which is much more shallow. The first cover, while of high quality, did not cover the fire bowl, exposing the bottom half of the fire pit. If you are familiar with rain, it rarely falls at a straight angle. We ended up putting the cover back up for sale- used and at a loss (someone got a great deal). The 44" veranda cover is terrific for a fire pit, not for this product! The suggested combo is not what you want! See photos!
Update: We ended up purchasing a different cover: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002LLOJXU/ref=oh_details_o06_s00_i00
and have been very pleased with it.

By KRS
This is a great Fire Pit! Very big in size. I added a stainless steel plate and sand on the bottom of it to be sure it didn't burn through so it would last for many years longer. Make sure you do not buy the cover that they advertise with this because the other reviews are right, it is cheap and won't fit that great. I bought one at Lowes for about the same price and it is bigger in size and heavy duty.

By C. Williams
We've opened the package, and assembled the fireplace. We have not used it yet, but feel confident we will love it.
It feels sturdy, and my husband is always picky about things like this.
The packaging was great, the screws and little pieces in very sturdy packaging. No loose screws here. It took two of us to put together, and about 15 minutes. It went together very easily.
I LOVE the palm trees on it - for me the only choice!
I can't wait to use it, we plan to take it camping, and use it at home too.
